Paul Mounsey is a composer, arranger and producer who has for the past few years provided additional music for many of John Powell’s scores, lending an authentic Celtic voice to How To Train Your Dragon as well as an authentic Brazilian voice to the score of Rio. He has also worked extensively on the scores for Kung Fu Panda 2, Knight & Day, Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax, Bolt, Happy Feet 2 and the Ice Age franchise.

A native of Scotland, Paul has spent most of his adult life in Brazil. A graduate of Trinity College of Music he has written for film, television, theatre, advertising and also for the Latin American pop market. Over the years he has worked with musicians as diverse as Etta James, Michael Nyman, Chico Buarque, Jimmy Cliff and Hans Zimmer. He’s written pop hits for Mexican boy bands, received commissions for chamber and multimedia works, lived with and recorded the music of indigenous communities in the Amazon rainforest, and to date has released five solo albums. He currently divides his time between Los Angeles and Scotland.
