London songwriter Jack Kaye has shared plans for his debut solo EP ‘Go Easy’.

It’s now six years since The Magic Gang went quietly into the night, having shared two wonderful albums in the process. Signing off with an emotional night at London’s Roundhouse, Jack then stepped to one side, taking time to process this shift in his life.

Recently becoming a father, Jack has slowly engaged with a new solo identity. A sought-after show at The Great Escape caused word of mouth buzz, before debut single ‘Dora’ landed in the Spring.

New EP ‘Go Easy’ is the first project under his own name, and it will land on August 14th via Fascination Street. To celebrate the EP release Jack will perform at The George Tavern on September 9th, with new single ‘The Weight’ online now.

Beautifully balanced indie pop, there’s a revelatory edge, with Jack daring to embrace total honesty in the lyrics. A song about self-doubt, adulthood, and learning to cherish his experiences, ‘The Weight’ is wonderfully well-rounded.

He comments…

There were lots of big life changes that happened for me around the same time. The end of the band kind of signalled that, and the wave of real, adult life knocked me back a bit.

It’s about coming to terms with the responsibility of real life; earning a living outside of the band, starting a family… I was also thinking about my Dad, and the ways I want to be like him as a parent, and the things I’d like to do differently. So that’s in there as well.
