Jack Kaye has announced his debut solo EP, 'Go Easy', due for release on 14th August via Fascination Street Records, alongside its latest single, ‘The Weight’.
Following debut solo release ‘Dora’, ‘The Weight’ sees the former Magic Gang frontman reflect on the changes that have shaped his life since the band came to an end.
"There were lots of big life changes that happened for me around the same time," he explains. "The end of the band kind of signalled that, and the wave of real, adult life knocked me back a bit. It's about coming to terms with the responsibility of real life; earning a living outside of the band, starting a family… I was also thinking about my Dad, and the ways I want to be like him as a parent, and the things I'd like to do differently."
Arriving six years after The Magic Gang's final release, 'Go Easy' follows a period in which Kaye stepped away from the spotlight, started a family and rediscovered his songwriting voice. Featuring contributions from former Magic Gang bandmates Angus Taylor and Paeris Giles, alongside Asya Fairchild and George Boorman, the five-track EP also includes previous single ‘Dora’.
To celebrate the release of 'Go Easy', Kaye will play an EP launch show at London's George Tavern on 9th September, following appearances at the venue this week and at Kings Cross Summer Sounds in August.
