Kynsy has returned with ‘eleanor’, a new single introducing the next chapter after her 2024 EP ‘Utopia’. The Dublin-born, London-based songwriter and producer Ciara Lindsey has shared the track alongside a video, with ‘eleanor’ out now.
Lindsey describes the song as “about being enthralled by someone from afar, knowing they’ll only hurt you. It’s a dark, poetic take on teenage infatuation and unrequited love, wrapped in a romantic, reckless, early-2000s Skins atmosphere.”
The single was co-produced by Lindsey with drummer Rory Gilmore, who also produces and DJs as Body Clinic, and guitarist Tyler Darrington, a producer and songwriter working as T. Evann. Both are collaborators from Kynsy’s live band, extending that onstage chemistry into the new recording.
The decision came after the practical difficulty of finding and funding an external producer for the next batch of songs. “I’ve always wanted to push further into glitchy, left-field production, while the juxtaposition of electronic and rock elements has always been central to the Kynsy sound,” Lindsey says. “This song came out of the frustration of trying to find and fund an external producer for this next batch of songs, which ultimately led to the obvious decision to produce it with my band.”
Kynsy will play Bristol and London this month before a December support slot with Na Cairde at London’s Dublin Castle. The video for ‘eleanor’ is available now.
